Radomir Cholakov: The sooner we get rid of Asen Vassilev's suggestion, the better - 1

Several deputy ministers were appointed today. Two names particularly impressed me - Kiril Ananiev and Martin Danovski. These are proven experts who will get the job done. When Asen Vassilev's budget was being adopted, Ananiev cried because he said he saw how everything he fought for was being destroyed. With Kiril Ananiev and Temenuzhka Petkova in the Ministry of Finance, we should be calm. This was stated by the former chairman of the Legal Committee in the National Assembly and long-time GERB MP Radomir Cholakov in the program “More from the Day“ on BNT.

In his words, the sooner we get rid of Asen Vassilev's suggestion, the better. “It is very difficult to work against such populism as we witnessed in the last parliament. When someone suggests increasing pensions and salaries, it is very difficult to say no. We need to elect responsible politicians, not populists“, he emphasized.

According to Cholakov “We Continue the Change (PP) disqualified themselves by withdrawing from the negotiations with GERB. “We always thought that it was better to talk to DB, but they succumbed to suggestions, otherwise they would now be part of the government“, the politician emphasized.

“What PP-DB wanted for the regulators was for them to be elected by committees, and for the National Assembly to have the role of a rubber stamp. If this had been allowed, it would have exploded parliamentarism. They wanted a revolutionary change that would explode the state structure – This cannot happen. This procedure has been the same for 15 years and is democratic and fair. They suggest that their candidates are the best. Why don't we wait and assume that other parties would produce better candidates than those of the PP-DB?“, explained Radomir Cholakov.

“I have worked with Desislava Atanasova and I can guarantee you that she reads laws and understands them as quickly as I have never seen. She is absolutely the right person for the Venice Commission. Since we changed the Constitution, the Venice Commission has not called. She gave advice that was outside the judicial and legal order, they wanted to experiment with Bulgaria“, the former chairman of the Legal Committee in the National Assembly pointed out.

“I expected that after the failure of the constitutional reform we would all give ourselves time to experience what happened, to experience catharsis. For 10-15 years, certain circles in Bulgaria fed on the topic of judicial reform. They saw that this was not the right path. In my opinion, the topic of judicial reform should be seized by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), with expert advice, discussions, etc. This is the job of the state, not the civil sector. It may have an opinion, but the reform is the MoJ“, Cholakov announced.

He called for us to have more trust in politicians.
