A two-member family received a shocking water bill of 1100 leva. Reni Dimitrova and her husband, who is disabled, have lived in the village of Polikraishte for 30 years. 4 years ago, their water bills skyrocketed, reports Nova TV.
There was a problem in the farmyard next to them, the Water and Sewerage Department said.
„This is our house, and the common water meter is a few hundred meters up. We have nothing to do with the farmyard. They just hooked us up after the common water meter of the farmyard. We wrote a complaint and they replied that it was at our expense”, says Reni Dimitrova.
“The accident extends several hundred meters from the house. I don't know how to look for it”, says their son Galin Dimitrov.
So Reni Dimitrova has been paying between 100 and 200 leva for four years for water that leaks somewhere. Until last month. When she received the record bill of 1100 leva. The company is holding on to its word – there was an accident, but it wasn't in their territory.
”This means that it is at the expense of the consumer. The Water and Sewerage Company is responsible up to the regulation line. For us, this is considered an extra-regulation line. The accident must be fixed by them and at their expense. "The Water and Sewerage Authority has no business inside," said Nikolina Nedyalkova, head of the "Realizations" Department, "Yovkovtsi" Water and Sewerage Authority.
Reni Dimitrova was surprised that according to the Water and Sewerage Authority, they were not regulated. And she checked the sketch of her property, as well as the notarial deed. It turned out that the water supply was in error. The property is regulated and in an urbanized area. The Water and Sewerage Authority had no answer to another question - why two bills for previous periods are exactly the same. "The invoice itself states that the cubic meters are official," explained Nikolina Nedyalkova.
Reni Dimitrova will pay her bill of 1,100 leva, and she and her son say that they will probably take out a loan. The Water and Sewerage Authority insist that the malfunction must be fixed, but there is no way they can do it.
