The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works proposes to introduce one-day vignettes for passenger cars. The draft amendment to the Roads Act also introduces European requirements for economizers when determining the price of tolls for trucks.
The proposal concerns passenger cars up to 3.5 tons that use the republican road network.
The goal is to provide a new option for short-term use of the toll road network, which meets the needs of users and public expectations for greater mobility and accessibility. This will provide maximum relief to drivers who have to use the republican roads only within 24 hours.
So far, they can buy a weekend, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual vignette.
The proposed amendment regarding the introduction of the one-day vignette fee will enter into force within 6 months of the promulgation of the Law.
The price of the one-day vignette will also be determined.
Changes are also planned in the methodology for determining the toll fees paid by heavy goods vehicles over 3.5 tons.
In accordance with the requirements of the European directive, mandatory differentiation of road use fees is proposed according to their environmental characteristics. Thus, the price of the toll fee per kilometer will be determined not only according to the category and number of axles of the vehicle and the EURO emission class, but also depending on the CO2 emission class of the vehicle.
The directive provides for financial incentives with reduced rates or premiums to encourage the transition to more modern, more environmentally friendly and low-carbon vehicles, while the oldest and most polluting trucks with the lowest Euro categories will pay more expensive toll fees.
Within 6 months of the entry into force of the Law, it is planned to amend the Tariff for the fees collected for the passage and use of the national road network.
