The Ministry of Education will propose a complete ban on phones in schools. Currently, devices are banned during class. However, many children do not follow the rules, which hinders the concentration and health of students, reports bTV.
In the Vratsa school “Hristo Botev“, phones have not been used since last school year. Sixth-graders Tsvetelin and Elitsa admit that before the ban they were distracted.
“If it is still necessary to contact the student - the parent calls the class teacher“, says Maya Nikolova, a parent.
“They are very eager to get them, but I think not all students miss them that much. And this is also evidenced by their results, which are quite high compared to previous school years“, said Maria Dimitrova, deputy director of the Sofia University “Hristo Botev“ – Vratsa.
Currently - older students are trying to violate the ban, say teachers from the capital's 96th school. Some show signs of addiction to the devices.
“They use them entirely for social networks - this is something that excites them, not the learning process. In some of the parents we find understanding, but in a large part - not. And my appeal is for parents to pay attention to their children“, explained Violeta Bakardzhieva, a biology teacher.
That is why a similar measure is being considered in our country.
According to a study conducted in the Netherlands - after the ban on mobile phones in class from 2024, 40 percent of students find breaks more enjoyable, and 1/5 feel less distracted during class.
