With 138 votes „for", 60 „against" and 15 "abstains", the parliament elected Plamen Mladenovski as chairman of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC).
He is a nominee of the GERB-SDF parliamentary group and takes over the position from Ivan Ivanov.
The second contender – Meglena Rusenova, proposed by the parliamentary group of "We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria" gathered 29 votes "for", 168 were against, 16 abstained.
The newly elected chairman of the regulator has a higher education in finance from the University of National and World Economy, a master's degree in financial management. Since 2013, he has been working at EWRC, initially holding expert positions, and subsequently managerial positions. From 2016 to the present, he is the director of the "Electric Power and Thermal Power" directorate in the commission.
