Boryana Dimitrova warned: Presidential elections can mess everything up

The majority is unstable from the very beginning

Next year, presidential elections are coming - a lot will depend on this - whether the cabinet we currently have will receive public approval to govern. This comment was made in an interview with BNT by sociologist from “Alpha Research” Boryana Dimitrova.

According to her, it is too early to say that Rosen Zhelyazkov's cabinet will serve out its full term, including because of the foreign policy dynamics. She agreed with Boyko Borisov that if this government falls, we will probably be in a new four-year election cycle. Then there will have to be a government without a horizon, as the Eurozone currently is.

“I do not envy the one who would govern in a situation in which Bulgaria has no perspective”, noted Dimitrova.

“The majority has been unstable from the very beginning. The need to maneuver is extremely great, the important thing is what goals it is fulfilling, where it is moving”, noted Boryana Dimitrova.

“As at the moment, so in the coming months the ruling majority will enjoy the comfort of a reserve player: the two factions of the MRF: APS and “New Beginning”, she also commented.

According to her, the most serious dangers for the “Zhelyazkov” cabinet come “from within”, and the significant external factor will be the conclusion of the convergence report on our membership in the Eurozone, which is expected to be available in June-July this year.

“If he gives the green light for Bulgaria to enter the Eurozone, it will have a unifying effect”, the sociologist predicts.
