The strength of the mayor is to be among the people, to be one of them. The mayors we nominate gain trust because they know that they have a responsibility to work in the interests of the citizens. This was said by the chairman of GERB Boyko Borisov during a meeting with the youth from the Sofia structure of the party. The candidates for mayors of the "Slatina" district - Dr. Lili Ivanova, of the "Iskar" district - Petko Kraev and of the village of Mramor - Alexander Georgiev were officially presented at the meeting. The elections in the three settlements will be held on June 15.
Dr. Lili Ivanova stated that her civic candidacy for mayor of the “Slatina“ district has received strong support from citizens and from GERB-SDF, because in the last 10 years as the manager of 22 DCCs she has proven that the door to her office is always open to the people. “When I become mayor of Slatina, the mayor's office will be on the first floor, not on the third, as it is currently - because everyone should have access to the mayor. My door will always be open!“, said Dr. Ivanova. And she added that as mayor she will do everything possible to “cure“ the problems of the „Slatina“ district.
33-year-old Petko Kraev, who is a practicing lawyer and is originally from Druzhba, said that he will follow Boyko Borisov's advice and will continue to always be face to face with the people of the „Iskar“ district. Kraev explained that as a person from the neighborhood he knows well what their problems are. „My short-term priorities as mayor of Iskar are related to solving problems such as garbage collection and transportation, the lack of regular maintenance of existing playgrounds, as well as the construction of new ones. I have a plan to solve the parking problems by reorganizing the available parking lots, clearly delineating the parking spaces and improving the infrastructure in the area“, said Petko Kraev. The mayoral candidate also commented that in the long term he will create a system of communication between citizens and the Municipality with the aim of faster and more effective solutions to citizens' problems, traffic relief, construction of new parking lots, renovation of sports grounds and construction of new ones, as well as new kindergartens.
Alexander Georgiev, who has been mayor of the village of Mramor since 2019, indicated that he feels certain that the residents of the village will again vote for him and elect him as their mayor, because he is one of them. “The work of the mayor of any settlement is daily – from painting the benches in the center, to finding solutions to problems such as better infrastructure. My goal is to continue working to improve living conditions in Mramor“, he also said.
The regional coordinator of GERB-Sofia and MP Daniela Raicheva stated that GERB will continue to be face to face with the citizens and will conduct a positive campaign among the people. As a long-time mayor of the “Novi Iskar“ district, Raicheva commented that the most important job of the district mayor is to communicate with his fellow citizens and to be in good dialogue with all institutions on which the development of the settlements depends.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chairperson of the Sofia Municipal Council Vanya Tagareva and the Chairperson of the Committee on Legal Affairs in the National Assembly Ani Alexandrova, as well as coordinators of districts, municipal councilors and MPs from the Sofia structure of the party. They all expressed their categorical support for the mayoral candidates that GERB-SDF is nominating in the regions of “Slatina“ and “Iskar“ and in the village of Mramor.
