European indoor long jump champion Bozhidar Saraboyukov has dropped out of Bulgaria's squad for the European Athletics Team Championships in the Second Division, announced the Bulgarian Athletics Federation, quoted by Topsport.

The championship is on June 28 and 29 in Maribor, Slovenia.

The 20-year-old jumper has not fully recovered after spraining his ankle during the warm-up before the Diamond League tournament in Rome on June 6.

Saraboyukov has been replaced in the team by the bronze medalist in the triple jump from the European Junior Championships U18 in Jerusalem 2022, Vasil Roussenov, who achieved a personal best on May 21 in Sofia long jump record with 7.27 meters and shares third place in the national ranking for the season.

The men's team includes 17 athletes, and the women's team has 15, with Lilyana Georgieva (800 and 1,500 meters) and Ivelina Milkova (shot put and discus) participating in two disciplines for the women.

The Bulgarians' opponents in the second division are the teams of the host Slovenia, Belgium, Turkey, Norway, Slovakia, Romania, Denmark, Serbia, Croatia, Estonia, Cyprus, Latvia, Ireland, Austria and Israel.

The first three teams in the final standings win promotion to the first division, and the last three are relegated to the third echelon.
