2,780 leva is now the minimum salary for the lowest academic positions in state universities, the government has decided.
The increase in salaries is just over 260 leva and is retroactive to January 1 this year, Deputy Minister of Education Tanya Mihaylova announced after the cabinet meeting:
"This amount is actually defined as 125% of the average gross salary for the past 12 months. Today's decree also increases the salary of all employees under Art. 53, paragraph 1 of the Higher Education Act. These are specialists, researchers and experts".
