The mayor of Pernik Stanislav Vladimirov said that Vasil Mihaylov, the son of a Pernik prosecutor, who is wanted by the authorities, has nowhere to hide if the institutions act effectively. In the studio of Nova TV, he emphasized that so far the actions of the responsible authorities have not been effective enough.
"The prosecutor's son has nowhere to hide if the institutions — not only us from the municipality — have a real desire to find him. However, they are not effective enough for now," said Vladimirov regarding the case of Vasil Mihaylov, who is fleeing justice, but recently appeared on YouTube with a video that caused a violent public reaction.
The mayor also shared that he does not feel powerless: "I am not afraid. If I were afraid, I would not be involved in this. Everyone knows that they will have my help if they seek me out. In such situations, I always stand up for myself."
According to him, the case also has personal dimensions. "A month ago, the father prosecutor met me in the park and accused me of everything his son had done. Vasil's uncle came to my office and said that he could not influence it", said Vladimirov.
The mayor also explained that Vasil Mihaylov's family runs a sports club in a municipal base, but he himself provided assistance due to the achievements of a cousin of the wanted person, who has serious sports successes and "brings pride and a good image to the city".
Vladimirov refused to comment in more detail given the upcoming proceedings, but called for more decisive action by the institutions, which, according to him, have enough tools to put the law into effect.
