The Sofia Municipality has agreed to hold a protest on "Nezavisimost" Square from June 28 to July 8, between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM, without closing traffic and without building a tent camp. This is what Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev wrote on his Facebook page.

The right to protest is a fundamental right. Maintaining order - an obligation and a responsibility, the mayor notes.

The decision was made in accordance with the Law on Assemblies, Rallies and Demonstrations, after opinions from all competent institutions, Terziev emphasizes. He informed that the organizers have submitted an application for the construction of a stage on “Nezavisimost“ Square and parking of buses of the participants on “Todor Aleksandrov“ Blvd. The construction of a tent camp has not been coordinated, he wrote. According to him, security, maintaining order and caring for the urban environment are the responsibility of the organizers. If necessary, temporary traffic organization can be introduced only at the discretion of the Sofia Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Traffic Police, the mayor specified.

He points out that democracy does not mean disorder. – – Yes, it is our inherent right to express a position, but this right comes with conditions – not to disturb other citizens, not to block the city, to maintain order&rdash;, the mayor of Sofia stated.
Respect for the law and for the other – this is the true strength of a democratic society, he adds.
