A large amount of cocaine was seized at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint. According to the "Customs" Agency, the shipment is a record - it is about nearly 205 kilograms and 940 grams of cocaine. The drugs are worth over 37 million leva, NOVA reported.
The drugs were discovered during an inspection of a passenger car. "Three people were traveling in it. They tried to cross the border towards Turkey. A 54-year-old Belgian citizen was also with them," said Haskovo District Prosecutor Ivan Stoyanov at a briefing.
The drugs were hidden in passenger suitcases - 5 in number. 4 of them were in the trunk, and one was in the back seat of the car. 179 packages of a white powdery substance were found in the luggage, which reacted to cocaine in the field test.
"The penalty for this type of crime is a prison sentence of 15 to 20 years and a fine of between 200 and 300 thousand leva," the prosecutor specified.
