The fire near Karnobat reached the base of Burgas businessman Bencho Benchev – one of the largest agricultural producers in the region, flagman.bg reported.
The fire is growing due to the strong wind, which is constantly changing direction.
„All our equipment is on the ground. We are helping with tractors, plows, tanks, but the fire is very serious. I don't see how it can be extinguished. I think it will engulf the cherry orchards that are nearby and may go to the military unit“, Georgi Benchev, son of Bencho Benchev, told Flagman.bg.
The mayor of Karnobat, Georgi Dimitrov, specified that if the wind does not weaken, the fire may cross the main road and reach the village of Iskra.
According to our sources, there is also a real danger to the military base that is nearby. There are telecommunications facilities there. There is no information about available ammunition.
We recall that the fire started earlier today from the pig complex near Karnobat. Eyewitnesses claim that the field flared up from three places at the same time, which indicates deliberate arson. The fire quickly grew and spread on a large front – towards the village of Krumovo Gradishte, and then turned towards the fortress “Markeli“ and a military unit.
