Hristo Krusharski is the man who has been among the closest people to Ivan and Todor Slavkov for more than 30 years. He is the only one who was with Bateto and in Singapore in 2005, when he was expelled from the Olympic movement at the IOC Congress, writes Nova TV.
Krusharski talks about the lessons from Todor Zhivkov, about the joyful moments and the heavy blows - 20 days after the tragic death of Todor Slavkov.
„He wrote me a message that Lyudmila Zhivkova had spoken in it and that he had a mission to build a monastery school in the village of Assen. It is a mystery to me why he was unable to complete this mission. I can't believe he committed suicide, knowing him, his father and his grandfather," Krusharski said.
Hristo Krusharski added that he had an order from Todor Slavkov's grandmother to take care of him. "She was a unique person. The backbone of everyone, an iron woman. The days before she passed away, she gave me an order to take care of Todor Slavkov."
„Todor was trying to copy his father. His father was a very intelligent man. Ivan was a man recognized by the world, not by Bulgaria. Our state slandered him. It slandered their family," he added.
According to him, his friendship with Ivan Slavkov began in a cafe after he was released from prison. „I met the Zhivkov family after 1992, when Ivan Slavkov and I wanted to form a party. We went to Todor Zhivkov to tell him about our intentions and to give us advice. Then he asked us if we had money and told us to keep it and not to do stupid things”, said Hristo Krusharski.
"I learned a lot from Todor Zhivkov, which I still use to this day. He told me that "A Bulgarian without a fork and a spoon cannot work". A Bulgarian is ready to be treated, but not to work. This is observed even today”, he emphasized and added that Ivan Slavkov was never interested in money.
