Yellow cheese has become cheaper by nearly 1 leva in our country, the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT) reports. However, the price of cheese is increasing. The data is against the background of the CITUB's finding of a difference in the price of cheese from producer to store of over 70%.
According to DKSBT data, at the beginning of June the price of yellow cheese was 18.55 leva.
In a month it has decreased by 60 stotinki. According to the latest data from this week, its wholesale price is 17.65 leva.
The trend for cheese is reversed. Its price was lowest at the end of July – 11.17 lv.
Since then, it has increased by a little over 40 stotinki. So, wholesale, it currently costs 11.60 lv.
What is the reason why yellow cheese is more expensive than cheese?
Stoil Kostov's dairy has been producing cow's cheese for more than 30 years. He sells dairy products through distributors and says he hasn't raised prices in over a year.
“We have some observations that dairy product prices are being raised speculatively, but this is not our fault, our wholesale price is 16.80 leva for cow's cheese with VAT, from there the distributor adds 10-15 percent, the trader adds about 30% and the price becomes 24-25 leva“, says Stoil Kostov.
The dairy owner is adamant that he hasn't raised prices in years and if there is a price increase among producers, it is always justified – with the increase in the price of milk and production costs.
The Association of Dairy Processors explained the difference in the prices of yellow cheese and cheese.
„At least 10 liters of milk are needed to produce 1 kg of yellow cheese. It is a fundamentally different product. Cheese and yellow cheese are obtained from different products. I don't believe anyone in the industry has touched prices in the last 6 months, let alone raised prices by 10-20 stotinki“, commented Simeon Prisadashki from the Association of Dairy Processors in Bulgaria.
According to the Bulgarian Dairy Products Association, there has been no increase.
„The State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets has had a fairly stable supply for the last three weeks and for yellow cheese we have a reduction of 70-80 stotinki. This indicator is good“, specifies the chairman of the commission Vladimir Ivanov.
Regarding the season and supply, the prices of yellow cheese and cheese are normal, the state commission on commodity exchanges and markets also indicates.
