The water in Pleven is fit for drinking. This was announced by the director of the Regional Health Inspectorate in Pleven, Dr. Iliyan Minchev, at the meeting of the Regional Crisis Headquarters for the implementation of the regional disaster protection plan in the territory of the Pleven region, convened due to the problems with the water supply.

He pointed out that the RHI continues to carry out weekly frequent monitoring of the quality of drinking water. By their prescription, such monitoring is also carried out in parallel by the Water and Sanitation Department.

On September 1, sampling was carried out from all 10 control points in the city. Samples were also taken from four childcare facilities and six hospitals. The samples tested in the RHI laboratories did not show any deviations in the indicators of water for drinking and domestic purposes, Dr. Minchev specified.

In terms of hygiene and epidemiological, there is no increase in the incidence of intestinal infections, Dr. Minchev informed. In the last three weeks, 16 intestinal infections have been registered that are not related to drinking water. Half of them are from areas in the region where there is no water regime.

The RHI is also continuing inspections of educational institutions for readiness for the new school year. There, in addition to sanitary and hygienic conditions, they are also checking for the presence of a sufficient number of containers for sanitary needs. Out of 105 schools in the region, 90 have already been inspected and given permission.
