The largest solar park in the world will appear in northern Australia. It will produce electricity to power 3 million households. The plans are to transfer some of the electricity to Singapore, which is 4,300 km away. Transportation will be done by submarine cable.
The investment is worth 13.5 billion USD. The project will help meet the growing demand for renewable energy both in Australia and overseas.
„After the project is implemented, it will be the largest solar park in the world and will make Australia a world leader in “green“ energy“, the Australian authorities specify. The solar park will spread over 12,000 hectares. The northern part of Australia was not chosen by chance – there are the most sunny days during the year.
The solar plant must provide 6 gigawatts of energy per hour. 4 gigawatts will be consumed in Australia and the other 2 will be exported to Singapore.
