There is a man arrested for the fire in the area of the “Sinet Kamani” Nature Park. in Sliven, reported NOVA.
The fire started from an illegal dump and engulfed bushes and trees, reaching people's houses. Forensic experts established that persons burned waste in the area.
Police responded to a report of an arson on Thursday. “On the spot, it was established that there was evidence of a person setting a fire in the wooded area in order to burn cables to transmit copper for yellow pennies. We have identified the two individuals who were in the area. One has been detained, the other is hiding until now”, said Senior Commissioner Dimitar Velichkov, Director of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs-Sliven.
The two men are known to the police, they have theft records.
Regional manager Bozhurski explained that the key moment in controlling the fire was the quick reaction. “At the moment, the fire is under control and localized, and actions will be taken to extinguish it finally”, he pointed out.
The 27-year-old man, who has not yet turned himself in to police, has been declared a statewide wanted man.
