Sofia crime scene investigators detained two people in connection with stolen cars. This was reported by the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. They specify that the crime scene investigators acted on a signal received yesterday from the owner of a car manufactured in 2022, who reported to the Sofia Fourth District Department that in the morning he discovered the absence of his car, parked in front of his home in the area of the National Palace of Culture.
After the immediately initiated police operation, the crime scene investigators from the “Crimes related to vehicles“ of the Sofia Directorate of Internal Affairs and their colleagues from the Fourth District Department found the car in a garage in the villa area "Bunkera", where another disassembled car was also found, the subject of illegal seizure from the territory of the capital.
In the room, law enforcement officers found and seized a technical device of the "plug" type, used by the perpetrators of the crimes to muffle the signal of the stolen cars, the message states. During the operation, two people were detained on site - the owner of the garage, 62 years old, and a 49-year-old, with a number of criminal records, mainly for illegal seizure of motor vehicles, as well as hooliganism, arson and concealment of property. During the investigation, it was established that the premises were used by the two to hide and dismantle cars stolen in the capital, the statement also states.
The two men were detained for up to 24 hours.
