The poet, writer, screenwriter and playwright Valeri Petrov leaves a unique mark in the history of Bulgarian literature.

He was born on April 22, 1920, writes ozone.bg. He graduated from medicine, but worked as a doctor for a short time. He discovered his calling to write as a child. He published his first book "Birds to the North" at the age of 15.

During his 94 years, Valeri Petrov has given Bulgarian literature numerous poems, verses, children's tales, theater plays, film scripts and translations, including translations of all of Shakespeare's works.

Valeri Petrov's immense talent for handling the language of words and his ability to capture the subtleties of human emotions turn each of his verses into a literary masterpiece. Through metaphors and symbolism, he manages to subtly and easily explore even complex social themes, to weave the intellectual with the lyrical and sadness with tenderness. And yet, from them flow harmony, kindness, but also philosophical depth that makes the reader fall silent in admiration.
