In Thailand, a Buddhist monk forced a husband and wife to have group sex with him and other clerics under the pretext of special spiritual practices, writes Thaiger.
On June 11, a couple from Petchabun province accused a 40-year-old monk of manipulating their religious aspirations and engaging in inappropriate sexual relations. According to the victims, for 10 years they were parishioners of the monastery where the monk served, and for a long time he “expelled evil spirits from them and their loved ones and made their lives better”. They sincerely believed in the gift of man and respected him.
At the same time, some of the monk's teachings were “clearly related to sex”, but the husbands considered this to be his special approach. In 2021, the mentor stated that they must have sex with him in order to reach the highest level of knowledge and be freed from all suffering. The monk also stated that he was seriously ill and needed to restore his vitality through sex. First he had sex with the couple and then ordered them to sleep with him and other monks.
In addition, he recorded sexual acts on video. According to him, he wanted to show the videos to a certain tantric deity as a sign of special respect. Until 2022, the couple continued to follow the “special teaching”, but then they felt that it did not correspond to their ideas about Buddhism.
They broke off their relationship with the monk and sought psychiatric help. Now they have decided to speak openly about what happened because they are afraid that the former guru and his followers will blackmail them with candid videos.
The community organization Saimai Survive, which the couple contacted, said it has already sent a request to the Petchabun Provincial Office of Buddhist Affairs asking for an investigation against the monk.
