A bizarre case is under investigation in Brazil after a woman died with dozens of iPhones taped to her body, the Mirror reports.
The 20-year-old woman died after becoming unwell on a bus that stopped in front of a restaurant on a main road in Guarupua in Brazil's central Paraná region.
The country's military police said the woman was found with 26 iPhones taped to her body. She was examined on the bus by the Mobile Emergency Medical Service (SAMU), where she was found still conscious but suffering from shortness of breath.
Shortly after, her condition deteriorated and she stopped breathing.
Paramedics tried to revive her for about 45 minutes, but were unable to bring her back to life. While she was receiving medical attention, it was noticed that several packages, including phones, were attached to her.
A police dog did not detect drugs on the woman, after experts from the “Scientific Police“ and the Civil Police were called to investigate. Several bottles of alcohol were found in the woman's luggage.
“The Civil Police of Paraná are investigating the case and are awaiting the conclusion of the forensic reports to clarify the cause of death. According to preliminary information, the woman traveled alone from Foz do Iguaçu to São Paulo. The 26 mobile phones taped to her body were seized and sent to the Federal Revenue Service. According to the Brazilian news outlet Globo, the woman's identity has not been revealed by the authorities. The investigation is ongoing.
