Young Bulgarian defender Rosen Bozhinov scored his first goal on Belgian soil, but his team Royal Antwerp lost 1:2 at home to Gent in a match from the seventh round, BTA reported.

The Bulgarian international opened the scoring in the 36th minute with a header, after intercepting a cross from Daam Fullon at the back post. Bozhinov took advantage of a long and serious pressure from his team, but at the end of the first half, the Bisons from Gent took the initiative and were lucky to equalize with literally the last shot of the half. Former FC Brugge winger Michal Skorash scored.

Two minutes into the second half, Mathis Samoas turned the game around, scoring for 1:2, with the credit once again going to the Pole Skorash, who set up the goal.

In the middle of the second half, Antwerp could have equalized, missing two situations. They even got a penalty, which was, however, canceled after the intervention of the video assistant referee system (VAR), as an offside was determined during the attack.

After 7 rounds, in all of which Bozhinov was on the field, Antwerp occupies 6th place with 9 points, while Gent is 8 in 8th place and a game in hand. Union (Seun Gillois) is at the top, with 17 points from 7 matches.

The 20-year-old central defender, who has already played 2 games for the Bulgarian men's national team, arrived in the Belgian championship in January 2024 from CSKA 1948 (Sf). So far, he has played 15 games for Antwerp's first team and 6 for the second in the country's third league.
