Verstappen will start from pole position ahead of Norris and Piastre, who will start second and third. The difference comes from the perspective of the tires that the three have at their disposal.

The McLaren duo of Norris and Piastre each have one set of brand new medium-hard tires and two sets of new hard slicks. With Verstappen, the situation is the opposite, which means that the Red Bull driver at least has information about the behavior of the hard tires this weekend, albeit from the first practice on Friday. All three have three sets of the soft tyres, which they used during yesterday's qualifying at “Yas Marina“.
