Bulgaria dramatically defeated Norway by 2: 1 in a match of the first group of the Euro-African zone of the women's team tennis tournament "Billie Jean King Cup", BTA reported.
The Bulgarian team took a 1:0 lead in the Portuguese city of Oeiras after Gergana Topalova made a comeback and beat Emily Sartz-Lunde 3:6, 6:3, 6:2. The meeting lasted 2 hours and 11 minutes.
After that, Bulgaria's first racket Viktoria Tomova lost after a dramatic 6:2, 6:7 (4), 3:6 against Ulrike Eikeri and the draw was restored.
In the decisive doubles match Lia Karatancheva and Gergana Topalova won hard with 7:6, (3), 7:5 against Emily Sartz-Lunde and Karina Sirtvait.
Bulgaria is arguing with Norway and Portugal to stay in this group next year as well. Only one of the three teams will retain their place in the first group of the Euro-African zone of the "Billie Jean King Cup". On Saturday, the Bulgarian women will play against Portugal.
