Radina Velichkova won a historic gold medal in the 100 meters at the European Athletics Championships for boys and girls under 18 in Banska Bystrica (Slvk), reports gong.bg.

The 16-year-old brunette from Plovdiv dominated her competitors and finished in 11.46 seconds, setting a national record for this age. In addition, her title is the first for our country among girls under 18 from European.

The Frenchwoman Shade Laporal finished second after her with 11.54 seconds, and the top three was completed by the Estonian Mia Ott with 11.62 seconds.

Half an hour before the sprinter's triumph, Bulgaria won her first medal of the tournament. He was conquered by Hristiyan Kasabov in the 110-meter hurdles, who placed third among the juniors.

The man from Varna finished in 13.47 seconds, beating British Toby Wright by one thousandth for a place on the podium.

Italian Kiyan Escalona became the champion with 13.22 seconds, and second was Frenchman Luca Domerge with 13.34 seconds.

In the girls' 100 meter hurdles final, Iva Deliverska finished in the prestigious 5th place. She achieved a time of 13.47 seconds, which was 3 hundredths better than her result in the semi-finals earlier.

Laura Ferlichkova, the representative of the hosts, became the European champion in the discipline with 12.97 seconds. The silver medal went to the Pole Zofia Rojek with 13.33 seconds, and the bronze went to the Frenchwoman Oxane Kinge with a personal best of 13.37 seconds.
