Cat Grisho! Dimitrov qualified for the round of 16 at the US Open - 1

Grigor Dimitrov is already in the round of 16 at the US Open tennis championship, after making it through the third round, BNR reported.

Today Dimitrov dealt with the 40th ranked Talon Griekspoor (Netherlands) in an hour and 40 minutes and beat him 6:3, 6:3, 6:1.

Dimitrov's next opponent will be Andrey Rublev. The Russian prevailed 6:3, 7:5, 6:4 over Jiri Lehechka and also advances. So far, the two have played against each other seven times, with three wins for Dimitrov. The last time the two met was in the semi-finals in Shanghai last year and the Bulgarian lost 6:7 (7), 3:6.

In today's meeting, Grigor Dimitrov did not for a moment leave Grikspor any chance to hope for a turnaround. Haskovlia broke in the fourth game of the match for the first time, using her second break point. He then took his serves for 5:1 and for 5:2 to nil, which was eloquent evidence of his attacks.

In the second part, the match went evenly until 3:3, with neither of the two on the court receiving a point or a breakthrough opportunity. But Dimitrov struck in the seventh game of the second part, realizing his first opportunity. Then he pressed again and won his serve at zero, and in the ninth game he managed to take the set.

The third part turned into a real recital of the Bulgarian, who gave his opponent only the second game. Two breaks, not a single chance for a re-break and a high success rate from the first serve only emphasized Dimitrov's superiority.

The Bulgarian reached the round of 16 in New York for the fourth time in his career and for the first time since 2019, but now he did it without losing a set so far.
