"The last dance was epic", Novak Djokovic addressed one of the great rivals in his career, Rafael Nadal.
Djokovic prevailed over the Spaniard 6:2, 7:6(5) in the match for third place at the demonstration tournament "Six Kings of the Slam" in Saudi Arabia.
Only a few days ago, Nadal announced the impending end of his competitive career.
"And, of course, it was also emotional", continued Djokovic to a post on the social platform Instagram, where he posted several photos together with Nadal.
"I will cherish our rivalry forever. Tennis will miss you. What a special tournament," added Novak Djokovic.
After the match, Rafael Nadal was presented with a golden racket by the organizers of the million dollar tournament. "I want to thank everyone, it was an amazing few days. It's been a great rivalry with Djokovic over the years. I thank him for his words. He helped me push my limits for nearly 15 years. I wouldn't be the player I became without him. I congratulate him and his team on all the titles. I wish you all the luck for the future," Nadal said after the match, addressing Djokovic.
"I hope we will have the opportunity to sit together on the beach over a glass and reflect on life and talk about everything,", Djokovic paid tribute to the Spanish legend, who retires next month after the Cup final "Davis".
