From Monday Nikolay Kirov will be appointed head coach of Spartak 1918 Varna, the Varna club announced in an address to its supporters, signed by executive director Ivan Kirilov. It specifies that the position of technical director will be taken over by Panayot Kiskinov.
For the last three matches, the Spartak 1918 Varna team was led by the coach of the second team, Ivan Tsvetanov, after the president Pavlin Nikolov announced at the end of September that he was ending the financing of the club. The reason for this was incidents during the team's training, caused by fans of the team, who interrupted it and attacked the then coach Kyriakos Georgiou. Before that, Tsvetanov led Spartak 1918 Varna in the 0-0 draw against Levski in the 7th round, after the then coach Alexander Tomas left for CSKA-Sofia.

„Dear supporters of Spartak Varna,
In the last two weeks, we have witnessed numerous comments and actions that create unnecessary tension around the club. Some tried to present themselves as saviors, using the name of Spartacus for personal image.
Spartak Varna, however, is an institution with deep roots and a glorious history that will endure. Unfortunately, the constant and negative comments in the media do not contribute to the good of the club and were one of the reasons for the events in Stara Zagora.
This negative atmosphere inevitably affects the footballers and, although this is no excuse, I personally excuse them. Therefore, once again I appeal to all those who really sympathize with the club – stop the unnecessary media appearances and let's give the team the peace it needs.
In response to the situation, in order to get Spartak back on the winning track, we have decided to appoint a new technical director and a new head coach. From Monday, Panayot Kiskinov will assume the position of technical director, and Nikolay Kirov will be the new head coach of the team.“
Sincerely, Ivan Kirilov - executive director of FC Spartak Varna.
