Bad news has reached Real Madrid before the 1/8 final big clash with Juventus from the Club World Cup, which is on July 1, sportal.bg reported. It is about another serious injury to the defender of “los Blancos” David Alaba.
The official announcement from Real states that the Austrian has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the sole of his left foot. Spanish media report that the injury will take him out of action for nearly a month.
This means that Alaba is out of Xabi Alonso's plans for the Club World Cup, in which he had not played a single minute so far. The 33-year-old has been recovering from a previous injury - a torn meniscus.
In December 2023, Alaba tore cruciate ligaments, which kept him out of action for just over a year. At this stage, it seems that the player will remain in the United States, where he will be monitored by Real Madrid's medical team.
Last season, Alaba was again plagued by injuries and recorded only 599 minutes in 14 matches for “Los Blancos”.
