The police in Plovdiv are taking all necessary measures to protect public order and ensure road safety in connection with the football match between the teams of Botev (Plovdiv) and CSKA, announced the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (ODMVR) in the city. The match is at 22:00 at the "Hristo Botev" stadium.
Officers from the subdivisions of the regional directorate, the SDVR and the „Gendarmerie“ Directorate are engaged to protect public order. An increased presence of patrol teams has been ensured in the area of the sports facility and on the territory of the city in order to immediately react to any signal of anti-social events and violations.
In view of the expected arrival of about 2000 supporters of the visiting team, an organization has been created to escort their cars from a gathering point at km 118 of the "Trakia" highway through the turnoff of the village of Radinovo - Western Ring Road – Blvd. – Asenovgradsko Shose– Blvd. – Osvobozhdenie– ul. “Dimitar Rizov“, on which a parking lot under police guard has been set up.
According to orders of the Mayor of Plovdiv Municipality, the sale of alcohol is prohibited on the territory of the sports area on the day of the match, and if necessary, from 19:00 on Saturday to 01:00 on Sunday, the movement of vehicles will be stopped on the following sections in the area of the “Hristo Botev“ stadium:
- Blvd. “Iztochen“, from the intersection with Blvd. “Knyaginya Maria Luiza“ to the intersection with Blvd. “Sankt Petersburg”;
- St. “Bogomil“, from the intersection with Blvd. “Iztochen” to the intersection with St. „Lev Tolstoy“;
- ul. „Varshava“, from the intersection with ul. „Bogomil“ to the intersection with ul.„Slavyanska“.
- ul. „Lev Tolstoy“, from the roundabout with ul. „Dimitar Rizov“ to the intersection with bul. „Knyaginya Maria Luiza“.
- ul. „Dimitar Rizov“ and ul. „Tsvetan Lazarov“ - from the intersection with bul. „Osvobozhdenie“ to the intersection with bul. “Saint Petersburg“.
The ODMVR-Plovdiv specifies that thorough checks of all visitors will be carried out at the checkpoints built in the area of the sports facility. Uniformed officers will not admit persons without an identity document; under the influence of alcohol or drugs; with imposed bans on attending sports events; minors without an adult companion. If prohibited objects and belongings are found, their owners will be taken and detained in police custody. The behavior of the audience will be filmed with special video cameras and a drone, and in cases of anti-social behavior (throwing bombs, smoke bombs, fights, etc.) the violators will be sanctioned in accordance with the Law on the Protection of Public Order during Sports Events.
