The Bulgarian national volleyball team for men under 19 successfully began its performance at the World Championship in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) with a victory over the Algerian team 3:0 (25:17, 25:17, 25:19) in an hour and six minutes of play.
The team of the national coach Miroslav Zhivkov started with the following lineup: Nikola Konstantinov, Martin Totkov, Ivan Uzunov, Jasmin Velichkov, Deyan Marinov, Nikolay Nikolaev and libero Daniel Tiholov.
At no point in the first game did Bulgaria allow the African opponent to take the lead. “The Desert Foxes“ tried to maintain a 2-3 point deficit, but the Bulgarians broke away at 16:11. After two series of three successful plays, the set logically went to Miroslav Zhivkov's students - 25:17.
The second game started more evenly. The Algerians even rejoiced twice that they were ahead in the score - 2:1 and 5:4. The Bulgarians managed to take a 14:11 lead, but then they allowed an equalizer. This was the opponent's last chance. Six consecutive points made Bulgaria's lead 20:14 and it was all over. Algeria's resistance forces only managed to repeat the result of the first half.
Bulgaria's dominance was most clearly seen in the last game of the match. First, the Algerians took a 4:2 lead, but a real whirlwind began. At 5:6, the home team scored six points in a row. They conceded one to Algeria and five more followed for Zhivkov's team. The score became 18:8 and the match was just getting going. It ended with 25:19, because in the last minutes the Bulgarians relaxed.
The second match of the Bulgarian team is tomorrow against the Chinese team and starts at 12:00 Bulgarian time.
