Barcelona started the new season in Spain with a convincing 3-0 away victory against Mallorca. The champions did not encounter any difficulties against the hosts, who played more than one half with nine players, BTA reported.
Rafinha, with a close-range shot and an assist from Lamine Yamal, opened the scoring for the Catalans during the campaign with his goal in the seventh minute.
In the 23rd minute, Ferran Torres also scored against Mallorca. Just ten minutes later, Manu Morales received a second yellow and red card, respectively, leaving the hosts with a reduced squad. Vedat Muriki was also sent off in the 39th minute after a rough foul and interference from the video arbitration system.
In extra time, Gavi brought on Yamal and he shaped the classic success in favor of Barca. The debut for the champions was made by English striker Marcus Rashford, who was brought in by the "blue-reds" this summer.
Valencia and Real Sociedad drew 1-1 in a first-round match of the Spanish football championship, while Alaves beat visiting Levante 2-1 in another match from Saturday's La Liga program.
Diego Lopez, a Barcelona teenager, gave Valencia the lead in the 57th minute when he intercepted Dani Raba's cross in the penalty area. The visitors responded quickly, however, and just three minutes later, Bryce Mendes passed to Japanese international Takefusa Kubo, who scored his 24th goal for Real Sociedad.
Alaves secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over top-flight newcomers Levante after Nahuel Tenaglia scored after extra time. The 29-year-old Argentine scored his seventh goal for the "blue and white" in the second minute of added time.
