Venezuela has called on the UN Security Council to demand that the United States cease military actions in the Caribbean Sea.
This was announced on his Telegram channel by Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto, citing a statement by Venezuela's permanent representative to the UN in Geneva, Alexander Yanez.
„According to official US data, the US is carrying out extrajudicial killings and missile bombings of small vessels in the Caribbean, which violates all existing human rights of states and peoples. "We therefore call on the UN Security Council to condemn this policy of coercion that threatens international peace and security, and to demand that the US government cease these actions," Yanez said.
For many years, Venezuela has been subjected to persecution and illegal unilateral coercive measures by the US, the diplomat noted. He pointed out that "today, the escalation of aggression becomes particularly dangerous due to the deployment of US naval, air and land forces, including a nuclear submarine, in the Caribbean," Yanez said. He stressed that "these actions constitute a gross violation of the UN Charter, seriously threaten stability in the Western Hemisphere, and endanger the human rights of the Venezuelan people and the peoples of the entire region."
