Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today that Britain is among the leading countries that want the war in Ukraine to continue, Reuters reported, citing Russian media, BTA reports.
„US President Donald Trump was recently in Britain. The country is one of the leaders of the pro-war camp,” Peskov said in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin.
At the same time, Peskov stressed that Russian President Vladimir Putin remains interested and open to resolving the situation in Ukraine through negotiations and plans to continue the dialogue with the United States on this issue.
“We count on the United States and President Trump personally to make efforts to help in this,” Peskov added, as quoted by TASS. He added that Britain had probably informed Trump about plans to put pressure on Russia and impose additional sanctions.
According to Peskov, attempts by Western countries to increase pressure will not be successful and will not contribute to ending the conflict.
