Ukraine can hold presidential elections if a ceasefire is achieved, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with Fox News.
“We need security for the elections. Even if it is difficult according to our constitution, if there is a ceasefire, we can hold elections. With the support of our partners, of course. We need security“, he said, answering a question about the timing.
Due to martial law, which was declared on February 24, 2022 and is constantly being extended, neither parliamentary nor presidential elections will be held in Ukraine. Parliamentary elections were scheduled for the end of October 2023, and presidential elections - for March 2024.
