Kremlin: Ukraine has no chance to regain its territories militarily - 1

The claim that Ukraine can regain something is wrong, said the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the statements of US President Donald Trump that Kiev can regain all its territories and borders by 2022 militarily, TASS reported, quoted by BTA.

"Now the situation is different. Ukraine's positions are currently much worse. I repeat once again that they will continue to deteriorate," Peskov said. "The fact that they are trying in every way to push Ukraine to continue hostilities, and the thesis that Ukraine can regain something, is, from our point of view, a wrong thesis", the Kremlin representative emphasized.

Peskov also noted that every day that the peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian conflict, which Russia proposes, is postponed, threatens Kiev with a deterioration of its positions in the negotiating arena.

Peskov once again pointed out that the special operation has a clear goal of eliminating the root causes of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and ensuring Russia's security.

"This war is not aimless. It is aimed at ensuring our security and interests and eliminating the root causes of the conflict that currently exists between Russia and Ukraine and that generally exists in the field of European security," he said.

The Kremlin press secretary said that Russia will continue to defend its interests in the Ukrainian conflict, speaking about the prospects for resolving the conflict in the context of new statements by US President Donald Trump. "The Russian side in general and President Putin in particular highly appreciate the political will of President Trump to continue to assist in finding ways to a peaceful settlement," Peskov noted.

According to Peskov, US President Donald Trump compared Russia to a "paper tiger" after his meeting with Vladimir Zelensky, under whose influence he was when he made this assessment.

Putin's spokesman also noted that the restoration of relations between Russia and the US is progressing much more slowly than Moscow would like. Peskov told reporters that the Kremlin would like to speed up work to eliminate "irritants" in bilateral relations, and said there are many areas where Russia and the United States can cooperate in the interests of both sides.

"Eccentric hysteria" Peskov called the allegations that Russia's military aviation violated the airspace of other countries, describing them as unfounded and unproven.

According to the Kremlin spokesman, the Russian economy is being restructured to meet the needs of the special military operation and covers all the needs of the army, he told RBC radio. He noted that Moscow has already heard that the Russian economy will collapse, that "Russia will be torn to pieces" and so on. "We have heard this repeatedly from Washington, we have heard it from European capitals. But a long time has passed. Russia's economy is largely being restructured according to the needs of the special military operation in such a way that all the needs of the front are covered by interest."

In this context, Peskov added that despite the sanctions pressure from hostile countries, Russia is successfully fulfilling its obligations to provide social security to its citizens and plans to fulfill them for years to come.
