The National Meteorological Service of Romania issued today a red code warning for heavy rainfall in the counties of Constanta, Calarasi and Ialomița, which comes into effect from Tuesday evening, Agerpres reported, BTA reported.
Between 21:00 on October 7 and 23:00 on October 8, there will be heavy rainfall in these areas, with quantities reaching between 110 and 120 liters per square meter.
An orange code warning for significant rainfall will be in effect from Tuesday at 21:00 to Wednesday at 23:00 for the regions of Muntenia, Dobrudja, South Moldova and Southeastern Transylvania, where the total is expected to be rainfall amount to reach 60 to 90 liters per square meter.
A yellow code warning for rain and strong winds has also been issued for the same period, affecting parts of Central Moldova, Southern Transylvania, Eastern and Southern Oltenia and the Western Southern Carpathians, with rainfall expected to reach 25 to 30 liters per square meter.
In the counties affected by the yellow code warning - Vrancea, Galati, Buzau, Prahova, Brăila, Ialomița, Calarasi, Constanța, Tulcea and Ilfov, as well as in Bucharest - wind gusts are expected to reach between 50 and 70 km/h.
In the Southern Carpathians, at an altitude of over 1,700 meters, there will be temporary blizzards with wind gusts of 60 to 90 km/h and snow accumulation of 10 to 30 see.
