An elderly man from the town of Argos Orestiko near Kastoria in northwestern Greece, for unknown reasons, left his home and began throwing 50 euro banknotes at passers-by, Greek state television ERT reported, quoted by BTA.
According to the report, the man left his home and initially began shouting at passers-by. However, the situation then took an unexpected turn when he took a wad of banknotes out of his pocket and began throwing them on the street.
Passers-by became concerned about the man's health and informed the authorities. A police patrol arrived at the scene, took the elderly man away in handcuffs, and then took care of collecting the money thrown.
The man was taken to the police station, where, after assessing the situation and his behavior, it was determined that he should be referred to a mental health facility.
He is currently undergoing treatment at the psychiatric clinic in Kozani, where he is receiving the necessary medical and psychological support.
