A rare earths deal with China is expected to be concluded by Thanksgiving (November 27). This was stated by US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant, quoted by "Reuters".
Besant's comments follow a framework agreement announced last month, in which Washington agreed not to impose 100% tariffs on Chinese imports, and China will refrain from a licensing regime for the export of key rare earth minerals and magnets.
"I am confident that after our meeting in Korea between the two leaders, President Trump and President Xi Jinping, China will honor its agreements," Besant said.
Besant also disputed a recent Wall Street Journal report that said Chinese officials planned to restrict access to rare earth elements for US companies linked to the military.
