Orban: Ursula von der Leyen asks EU member states for astronomical sum to finance Ukraine - 1

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is once again asking EU member states for additional funds to finance Ukraine and the war, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said today on the social network “Facebook“, quoted by the national news agency MTI, BTA reported.

“This means that the EC President is asking for an additional 135 billion euros for the next two years“, Orban said, adding that this is 65% of Hungary's annual economic product (GDP - ed. note) , the pensions for seven years of all Hungarian pensioners and nearly three quarters of the EU's annual budget.

“This is an astronomical sum that does not exist today. It simply does not exist. The Brussels "The 'magic trick' will be a pan-European loan again - a solution that will make even our grandchildren pay the price of the Russian-Ukrainian war," the Hungarian prime minister added.

Orban said the EU wanted Hungarians to contribute to this, noting that Hungary was being fined one million euros a day for not accepting migrants. "A country that is being financially punished because it has its own position on the war and on the ideology of gender equality," he said.

"This is more than unacceptable. This is categorically absurd. Hungary's reaction will be immediate," Orban said.
