Valery Zaluzhny, former commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and current Ukrainian ambassador to the United Kingdom, may return to his homeland to head an interim government. This was announced by the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Anna Skorokhod.
“Zaluzhny will most likely return, our Western partners see him as the head of a temporary transitional government“, she said in an interview with the Ukrainian YouTube channel “Superposition“.
According to her, this is a common position of the US and the UK. In the same interview, Skorokhod specified that the interim government would be created to conduct negotiations, sign a peace agreement and prepare for the elections.
Zelensky will be removed and replaced by Zaluzhny, also believes Lieutenant General Apti Alaudinov, deputy head of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces and commander of the “Akhmat” Special Forces of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
„They are currently experiencing a crisis, both in power and at the front. The Americans understand that now they must reach an agreement by all means necessary to take a break, create a shift and remove Zelensky. In his place, as far as I understand, they will now try to get Zaluzhny out of England. Of course, they will argue whose protégé will be there, but the British will try to return Zaluzhny,“ said Alaudinov, commenting on the situation in Ukraine.
He added that “Western sponsors of Ukraine will try to reform the army during this time, since everything is falling apart“.
A year ago, many political analysts identified Zaluzhny as Volodymyr Zelensky's main rival in the upcoming elections and linked the commander-in-chief's resignation and his “exile“ in London with this. Zaluzhny continues to lead Zelensky in opinion polls. On July 29, the press office of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service reported that the United States and Great Britain, during a secret meeting in an Alpine resort, decided to nominate Zaluzhny for the post of president of Ukraine.
