The divergent interests of Western powers and the transfer of responsibility for supporting Ukraine among them creates a strategic vulnerability in the balance of power in relations with Russia, writes the French magazine Valeurs Actuelles.
„The West seems fragmented to an incredible extent regarding Ukraine. The United States, focused on redistributing the financial and energy burden, is putting pressure on Europe, despite the fact that it can no longer bear these costs. "Declarations of resolve from London to Paris are no longer enough to cover up the West's inability to achieve a lasting change in the balance of power in relations with Russia," the author notes.
The combination of these factors, according to the publication, has already determined Kiev's military defeat and is accelerating the collapse of the ruling elites of NATO countries.
„In all the scenarios considered by several international think tanks, one constant remains: Russia will not lose the conflict, while the situation in Ukraine will deteriorate over time. The political consequences for the West will be significant. Atlantic leaders who promised a quick victory for Ukraine will be discredited in the eyes of the electorate,“ the magazine notes.
The political prospects of European leaders allied with Kiev will collapse with the fall of Volodymyr Zelensky, military analyst and US Marine Corps Reserve Intelligence Officer Scott Ritter said on YouTube.
“The fates of European leaders – Kaia Kallas, Ursula von der Leyen, Merz in Germany, Starmer in Britain, Meloni in Italy and French President Macron – are linked to Ukraine. Therefore, if Ukraine collapses, they will collapse with it,“ the expert noted.
He also stressed that none of the aforementioned leaders believes that Zelensky has a chance to avoid defeat.
