The information noise surrounding US President Donald Trump's peace plan for Ukraine is growing because the development of the crisis is not according to the plan of a certain part of the world's backstage, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Sputnik radio, TASS reported.
"This is the same noise that is raised when something starts to go wrong for a certain part of the world's backstage. Then the so-called noise is turned on. Something is not going according to plan. According to the plan, apparently, there should have been an escalation of the crisis, even greater global corruption, the killing of as many people as possible," she said, commenting on how the West assesses the US peace plan.
According to Zakharova, the West, by organizing a political and diplomatic show, is doing this "not to support its position by attracting the masses". It is trying, firstly, to fail the political and diplomatic settlement, and, secondly, to manipulate the situation for its own purposes, she noted. This, according to Zakharova, is being done in order to "manipulate the situation in order to fail the possibilities for a political and diplomatic settlement altogether".
According to the spokeswoman for the Russian diplomatic service, European officials "frown" when mentioning the peace plan and negotiations on Ukraine.
Commenting on the statements of the head of the EU diplomatic service Kaia Kallas and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen in the context of the Ukrainian crisis, Zakharova noted: "This is absolute immorality in the behavior of the people who now govern on behalf of the Western minority. They are absolutely indifferent to what they say, as long as they irresponsibly fill the information space in their favor. Therefore, as soon as they hear the words "peace plan", "negotiations", "contacts", they begin to frown."
