The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that on the night of December 5, "in order to reduce the military-economic potential" of Russia, Ukrainian forces struck strategic facilities: the seaport of Temryuk in the Krasnodar Territory and the Syzran oil refinery in the Samara Region, writes the BBC.
According to the General Staff, the Temryuk port handles liquid cargo (liquefied natural gas and chemicals), bulk and bulk cargo, including for the Russian military. A fire broke out at the site as a result of an attack by a Ukrainian drone, the Ukrainian military reported, without providing details of the consequences.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Syzran refinery also supplies fuel to the Russian army. According to the Ukrainian military, the annual refining capacity of the refinery ranges from 7 to 8.9 million tons of oil per year. A fire broke out there and one of the refinery's units may have been damaged.
Unofficial Telegram channels reported an attack on the Syzran oil refinery overnight. The Krasnodar Territory Special Group reported damage to the Temryuk port. There were no reports of casualties.
