Israel has reopened the Allenby border crossing between the occupied West Bank and Jordan for humanitarian supplies to the Gaza Strip, Agence France-Presse reported, citing Israeli and Palestinian officials.
The crossing was closed more than two months ago after a Jordanian truck driver carrying aid to Gaza shot and killed two Israeli soldiers there before being killed. It reopened yesterday, with 20 trucks allowed through.
"Allenby" is the only border crossing between Jordan and the West Bank. It allows Palestinians living in the territory occupied since 1967 to go to Jordan without having to cross Israel.
The checkpoint was reopened amid diplomatic efforts to implement the second phase of US President Donald Trump's Middle East peace plan.
