Russia's statements about the capture of the city of Volchansk in the Kharkiv region do not actually correspond to reality. This was stated by the head of the press service of the "Forpost" brigade Roman Kose on the air of Kiev 24.
Speaking about the situation in the direction, he noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are present in Volchansk, in particular in the southern parts of the city.
However, the military admits that the Russian troops have made some progress.
“But now the frost has set in on the territory of the Kharkiv region and our flights are more effective and more painful for the occupiers“, he noted.
Kose emphasizes that the fighting for Volchansk has been going on for several years and at the moment the situation in the city itself is very difficult. In general, according to him, now only the remains of buildings remain from the city.
Situation in the Volchansk region
On December 1, the chief of the border post of the firing unit of the “Gart“ brigade with the call sign "Alpina" said that the Russians had destroyed Volchansk, but Ukrainian troops were preventing them from advancing further. He added that Russian soldiers had been trying to advance in this direction for more than a year.
Earlier, the head of the communications department of the Joint Group of Forces "Khortytsia" Viktor Tregubov said that the Russians had "lied" about the capture of Kupyansk. According to him, there are several dozen Russian soldiers in the city who are cut off from supplies and any kind of military assistance.
