A 6.1-magnitude earthquake shook Taiwan's southeastern coastal county of Taitung on Monday, the island's meteorological office reported, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.
There are no reports of damage so far. The earthquake was also felt in the capital Taipei.
The epicenter of the quake was 11.9 km deep, the meteorological office reported. Taiwan is located on the border of two tectonic plates and earthquakes are often recorded on the island, Reuters notes.
More than 100 people died in a quake in southern Taiwan in 2016, and a 7.3-magnitude earthquake killed more than two thousand people in 1999.
