Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez today promised "full transparency" and discovery of the "truth" about the causes of the train accident yesterday, in which 39 people died in southern Spain, reported Agence France-Presse, BTA reported.

"We will find the truth", the prime minister said, promising "full transparency and clarity".

During a brief statement made by Sanchez in Adamus in the autonomous region of Andalusia, where the accident occurred, the Spanish prime minister announced three days of national mourning, which "starts at midnight today and will last until Thursday".

The number of victims of the train accident in southern Spain, in which two trains collided, is now 39, Reuters reported, citing information from the Spanish state television RTVE. According to the latest data, 152 people were injured, the television specified.

The trains collided after one derailed near Adamus in the Andalusian province of Cordoba. The tragedy occurred at around 7:40 p.m. local time yesterday (8:40 p.m. Bulgarian time).

A high-speed train "Iryo" (Iryo), carrying more than 300 people, derailed while traveling from Malaga to the capital Madrid, and ended up on the adjacent track, DPA notes.

At that very moment, a high-speed train of the company "Renfe" (Renfe), with about 200 passengers, was moving in the opposite direction on the line, which hit the composition of the "Iryo" head-on and also derailed.

The regional prime minister of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, did not rule out the possibility of more victims, as the search for survivors continues. He said that more than 70 people have been hospitalized, 15 of them in serious condition. He said that the identification of the victims will begin soon.
