About 3,000 residential buildings in the Ukrainian capital Kiev are still without heating due to Russian air strikes this week, Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced today, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.

"As of this morning, almost 3,000 multi-storey buildings in the capital remain without heating", he wrote on his channel in the "Telegram" application.

Klitschko added that heat supply was restored to 270 buildings in Kiev last night.

Yesterday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky again criticized the city authorities and demanded that repair work be accelerated. According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, mobile operators report that about 600,000 people have temporarily left the city of about 3 million.

Other parts of the country, including the Odessa and Dnipropetrovsk regions, as well as the border regions of Sumy and Chernihiv, have also been affected by power outages due to the Russian attacks.

Since the beginning of January, Ukraine has been gripped by severe cold, with temperatures in places falling to double-digit negative Celsius. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing again next week, which will ease the situation. The Eastern European country has been defending itself against a Russian invasion for almost four years.
